Reporting on my New Year's Resolution

1 hour a day on quilting is my goal for this year.  I'm not quite there, but am doing reasonably well, given various interruptions and distractions.  I've set up an Excel spreadsheet to track my hours daily, and so far I'm just under 1 hour per day (80% of the goal, actually).

I haven't posted any new quilts because I've been concentrating on getting tops put together and getting the quilting done.  So far I've finished 5 tops and 3 of those are now quilted.

The last part is the binding.  That involves cutting strips, pressing them in half, sewing to the edge (via machine) and then hand-stitching the edges on the back of the quilt.  Generally the whole process goes pretty fast, so once I concentrate on getting that done, I'll have some results to show.

It won't be long now.

 My New Year's Resolution

Since 2017, the front room of our house has been "the quilting room".  That's where the longarm is and where I keep my outrageously huge stash of fabric, batting and other craft tools.

In recent years I have made very few quilts and had been toying with the notion of selling the longarm and getting out of quilting completely.  But there are projects I really want to do and, well, once that longarm is gone, that will probably be the end of my quilting career.  So I've held onto it.

In 2025 I finished 2 only quilts.  Not a great track record.

This year I am determined to get back to work and have set myself the goal of averaging at least one hour per day of quilting time for 2026.

We'll see how well I do.  I've set up a spreadsheet on my desktop to track my hours and we'll see...
